What the optional cookies help us understand

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand website visits, the websites visitors arrive from and clicks on Book, Text, Call, Email, Directions and the parking guide. Google processes cookie identifiers, browser and device information, page information, visit and interaction times, referral information and approximate location. These identifiers can distinguish a browser across visits; they are not anonymous simply because they do not contain your name.

Our custom button tracking uses fixed action names. It does not include the contents of calls, texts or emails, or details you enter in Square. Google also adds technical and page information to events automatically. A button click does not prove that a message was sent or an appointment was requested or confirmed.

Our tracking code limits the page and referral information it sends to reduce the risk of collecting personal details from website links. Please do not include personal or treatment information in links.

Google processes IP addresses to operate and protect Analytics and derive approximate location. For visitors outside the EU, UK and Switzerland, Google says it discards raw IP addresses after use and does not associate raw IP addresses with user identifiers. Google describes separate regional handling in its data and privacy information.

We do not enable Google signals, user-provided data collection or advertising personalization. Our Analytics property is not linked to Google Ads. Optional sharing for Google products and services, modeling contributions and business recommendations is turned off. Google may use data to provide, maintain and protect Analytics, and its technical-support staff may access our Analytics data to resolve support issues.

Remembering your choice and keeping data

A first-party preference cookie called cse_analytics_choice remembers your choice for 180 days in this browser. It records the choice, the notice version and when you made it. It is used to remember your preference, not to measure your visits. Acceptance and rejection are remembered for the same period. Different browsers, devices or domain addresses may require a separate choice.

If your saved choice expires or is cleared, optional cookies stay off until you accept again. If your browser cannot save a new choice, it applies to the current page and the notice explains the limitation. If a previous saved acceptance cannot be overwritten, clear this website's cookies in your browser to remove it before another visit.

When you accept, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_<id> to distinguish visits and sessions. We configure a 180-day lifetime for these cookies. Google may restart that 180-day period for the cookie that keeps track of a visit as you use the website. Browser restrictions can shorten cookie lifetimes. Turning optional cookies off stops our further Analytics collection and removes accessible Analytics cookies for this website. It does not automatically erase information already collected; contact us about access, correction, withdrawal or deletion requests.

Our Analytics retention settings are two months for user-level, key-event and other event-level data. We do not reset a user identifier's retention period with each new visit. Google deletes expired data through its monthly process. Standard aggregated reports may remain available longer. Cookie expiry and Analytics data retention are separate.

Google Maps, booking and gift cards

The embedded Google map on our directions page loads only when you choose Load Google map. Loading it connects your browser to Google, shares technical information such as your IP address and browser details, and may allow Google to use cookies under Google's privacy policy. This separate choice does not turn website statistics cookies on. Written directions and the parking guide are available without the map. An external Google Maps link opens Google's own service.

Booking and gift-card links take you to Square. Square processes information you enter there under its customer privacy notice. Cedar & Salt remains responsible for client information it receives through those services. This website's cookie setting does not control Square or other websites.

Website delivery and processing outside Canada

Hosting and security providers, including Cloudflare, process technical request information such as IP addresses and browser details to deliver and protect the website. These functions operate separately from optional statistics cookies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Our service providers may process personal information outside Canada. Information processed in other countries may be subject to their laws and accessible to their courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.

Contact and privacy requests

Text and email links open your chosen communications service. If you contact us, we use the information you provide to respond and handle your request. Please avoid sending sensitive treatment or health information through ordinary email or text.
